The Strong Ant 5 is the consistent evolution of the Strong Ant series. It combines minimalist design with maximum versatility and gives you the opportunity to systematically develop your finger strength and climbing performance—whether you’re just getting into the sport or already training at an advanced level.
The board offers a wide variety of grip types: small edges, sloping surfaces, pinch grips, and large pull-up jugs. This is complemented by the option to integrate pegboard exercises or add additional pull-up bars. As a result, the Strong Ant 5 provides a broad range of training stimuli, from foundational strength building to highly specific grip training.
Each board is crafted from high-quality ash wood sourced directly from the local region. The raw boards are processed on site, the basic shape is cut using CNC milling, and the final, crucial finish is done by hand. The surface is intentionally left untreated, as oiled or lacquered finishes would reduce friction and increase the risk of injury during training. Rounded edges ensure good ergonomics and help reduce the risk of overuse injuries.
For even more variety, the Strong Ant 5 can be combined with a range of accessories—such as sticks, Knockers ball grips, the Ant Bar or the Ant Enna pull-up bar, the Strong Ant 4, or the Ant Hill 63. This allows your setup to grow alongside your abilities.
Important note for beginners
Although the Strong Ant 5 offers many training options, it is only conditionally suitable for beginners. In particular, training on small edges should be avoided during your first year.
Training theory explanation
Muscles adapt relatively quickly to new loads, while the finger pulleys adapt much more slowly. This means that even if it feels like you can already hold the smallest edge, your tendons and ligaments may still be overloaded. The risk: painful injuries that can keep you out of training for weeks or even months.
Recommendation
If you are just starting out, focus first on pull-ups using a bar with a large diameter. This gives your body the time it needs to adapt safely and sustainably to the load. Only after that should you gradually progress to smaller edges.
The Strong Ant 5 is therefore a board that supports you from solid foundational training all the way to demanding grip variations—helping you build strength step by step on a reliable foundation.
